SQLite Syntax Checker
Check SQLite statements before running them in your app or the sqlite3 shell, including upserts, RETURNING (3.35+) and window functions.
SQLite errors this catches, and how to fix them
- ALTER TABLE limits. SQLite supports RENAME, ADD COLUMN and DROP COLUMN (3.35+) but cannot change a column’s type; rebuild the table instead.
- RIGHT / FULL JOIN. Only available from SQLite 3.39. On older versions, rewrite as a LEFT JOIN.
- Dot-commands. .import, .schema and .mode belong to the sqlite3 shell, not to SQL.
- Types are not enforced. A syntax check passes, but SQLite stores any value in any column unless the table is STRICT.
Need to move this query to another database? The SQL dialect converter rewrites it and lists every change. To make it readable first, use the SQL formatter.

Questions
Is this SQLite syntax checker free and private?
Yes. The SQLite grammar is downloaded once and your SQL is parsed in the browser, so nothing is uploaded. Only the optional “Explain & fix with AI” button sends the failing statement to an AI model.
Does it check that my SQLite tables and columns exist?
No. It checks syntax only, because it never connects to your database. Valid statements list the tables and columns they reference so you can compare them yourself; EXPLAIN on a development database checks the names for real.
Which SQLite versions are covered?
The grammar comes from the open-source node-sql-parser project and targets current SQLite syntax. Very new features or vendor extensions can be flagged as errors even when the server accepts them; confirm those with the official SQLite documentation.
Why does SQLite reject aLTER TABLE limits?
SQLite supports RENAME, ADD COLUMN and DROP COLUMN (3.35+) but cannot change a column’s type; rebuild the table instead.
Why does SQLite reject rIGHT / FULL JOIN?
Only available from SQLite 3.39. On older versions, rewrite as a LEFT JOIN.
